A grand opening ceremony of the modern 30-storey hotel ME took place in Barcelona. This is already the fourth hotel of the Spanish tour operator Sol Meliá which is included into the net of the exclusive ME Hotels.

Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, vice-president and general director, mentioned, "The success of ME Cabo, ME Cancun and ME Madrid inspired us so much that we have decided to open the fourth hotel belonging to the family of ME hotels.  Such a success is a result of cooperation between the international ME Barcelona partners including design developed by Dominique Perrault, various nice small things by Aveda and dishes by the Spanish chief cooks Javier Torres and Sergio Torres".

There are 259 rooms and suites in the hotel with a beautiful view of the Barcelona`s mountains or of the Mediterranean.  The hotel`s lobby is a modern cosy place combining a good music from all the corners of the globe, craftworks of the local masters and a fresh aroma created especially for ME Barcelona.

There is a VIP-floor consisting of 14 de luxe rooms and 23 suites. Besides the standard toilet set the guests of the VIP-floor are offered the complementary aroma-therapy cosmetics, free cocktails, special breakfast, a separate check-in area and a privilege to get the private access to the lounge. The presidential suite at ME Barcelona has the area of 150 square meters and includes even a nursery. It takes the whole floor with the limited access.

Staying on the 24th floor of ME Barcelona the guests can enjoy the beautiful scenes of the city, for example during dinner at Dos Cielos – a restaurant having 360-degrees field of vision and a large open terrace. The chief cooks of Dos Cielos Javier Torres and Sergio Torres put their whole soul creating dishes. As the chief cooks use only fresh ingredients, a garden was made on the roof of ME Barcelona where rare and special components for the dishes are grown and delivered to the kitchen daily.   

The guests of the hotel can visit YHI SPA – the exclusive health center of Sol Meliá where all sorts of SPA-treatment and fitness training are offered.

ME Barcelona also has high-ceilinged conference halls with the area of more than 140 square meters for 300 persons excellent for meetings, receptions and conferences.

The hotel is located at the main street of the city – Diagonal avenue – next to the hotel Pere IV, between Plaça de les Glòries and Forum, in the modern high-tech Barcelona`s area 22. The convenient location allows getting quickly the famous sights of the city such as Sagrada Familia temple by Gaudi, the skyscraper Agbar Tower designed by Jean Nouvel, BICC and beaches of Barcelona.
